Product Care
Objects age with those who wear them.
Each Magata piece is made by hand to accompany you over time.
If it ever needs care, it returns to our hands.
Every object spends several hours in our studio before it leaves — this rhythm of making is what defines its form and longevity. We design for daily wear, but all materials respond to time, touch, and environment. The guidelines below will help preserve both function and surface.
1. GENERAL CARE (Applies to All Pieces)
- Avoid contact with lotions, perfumes, oils, chlorine, and seawater.
- Remove before showering, bathing, sport, or sleeping.
- Store each piece separately, ideally in the Magata cotton pouch.
- Clean regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
- Never use abrasive cleaners or ultrasonic machines.
2. MATERIAL-SPECIFIC CARE
Sterling Silver
Silver naturally develops a patina through contact with air and skin — this is not a defect but a living surface.
- Clean with a non-abrasive silver polishing cloth.
- For deeper oxidation, use a gentle silver cleaner, rinse, and dry immediately.
- Avoid prolonged humidity and direct contact with cosmetic products.
18k Gold-Plated Silver
Gold plating is a surface layer and will evolve with wear.
- Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after each use.
- Avoid water, sweat, perfumes, and friction.
- Do not polish with abrasive materials.
- Over time, natural wear may appear.
Gemstones (Natural)
Gemstones vary in hardness and porosity.
- Clean with lukewarm water and a soft cloth only.
- Do not soak.
- Avoid sudden temperature changes.
- Store separately to prevent scratching.
Glass Spheres (Hand-Formed)
Your glass elements are solid but not indestructible.
- Clean with gentle soap and lukewarm water, dry immediately.
- Avoid impact on hard surfaces.
- Store away from metal edges and pressure.
Silk
Silk is a luminous, living fibre that requires gentle handling.
- Spot clean with cold water and a soft cloth.
- Do not soak, wring, or machine wash.
- Lay flat to dry, away from direct heat and sunlight.
- Avoid sharp objects or textured surfaces.
Textiles (Sarongs, Fabric Pieces)
- Hand wash cold with pH-neutral soap.
- Press gently in a towel to remove excess water.
- Lay flat to dry, out of direct sun.
- Do not tumble dry.
3. REPAIR & REFRESH
If a clasp loosens, a surface oxidises unevenly, or a piece is accidentally damaged, contact us before attempting any repair yourself.
We offer a studio refresh and repair service, subject to condition and material.
4. LIABILITY NOTE
Normal wear, oxidation, and surface changes over time are part of the natural aging of handcrafted materials and are not considered defects.
